The Strangers in Athens will sing ‘Strangers in the Night’ when the hour tells or when needed. The watch is equipped with Caliber UN-690, a self-produced automatic movement, and the escapement is made of silicon. The watch integrates a new type of time setting system, which is controlled by a button on the crown, thus replacing the traditional method of adjusting the crown. The friend of the late Atelier CEO Rolf Schnyder Meier was the inspiration for the watch, and Meier became a shareholder of the company in 1983.
The movement of the Stranger watch took five years to develop, and it has a music box function. The movement is visible through the sapphire glass back. The buttons on the crown are used to control several different functions, including winding the movement, adjusting the date and setting the time. At 34 o’clock, there is a triangular dial of T, D, W, T (time), D (date) and W (winding). The On / off button activates or deactivates the 10-point music mechanism. Stranger watches will be limited to 99 pieces.
